Yes, this salty drink dates back to old days of Persia. Iranians drink it with their main foods, especially with Kebab. This is one of the good choices during warm seasons. Khakshir

Kakshir is another famous Iranian drink, mostly suitable for summers. It consists of tiny reddish-brown seed which are called teff in English. These tiny seeds are great source of calcium, fiber and protein! Also for those who suffer from liver diseases, Kakshir is the best herbal medicine. Ancient herbalists called it “Wisdom of Surgeons”. You can find it in many Sharbat Khanes in Iran or tea houses. Also you can make it yourself, as it is so easy: just mix Khashir seeds, water and sugar or honey.

Sekanjabin with Cucumber (Khiar Sekanjabin)

One of the oldest Iranian drinks, tried almost in all Iranian family parties, is Sekanjabin with cucumber. This traditional Persian drink includes water, white vinegar, fresh mint, peeled and shredded cucumbers, sugar or honey and lime rind. This is also another Iranian beverage you may try during hot seasons.

Tokhm-e Sharbati

Tokhm-e Sharbati is called basil seed in English. This Iranian drink also has so many benefits for your health. It reduces food craving and blood pressure and also has high amount of Omega-3.

You can make this beverage just like Khakshir. If you are in Iran, you can find the ingredients in Attari shops. But the good news is that, Tokhm-e Sharbati can be also found in Latin food section.
